Following an extensive negotiating process, Netflix has given an eight-episode season order to original comedy series Friends From College created by Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco. Production will begin in the fall in New York.
The comedy boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), Fred Savage (The Grinder), Nat Faxon (Married), Annie Parisse (Vinyl) and Jae Suh Park (Bad Internet).
The series centers on a group of friends who went to Harvard together and are now facing down their 40s and experiencing a range of success, or lack thereof, professionally and domestically. With interwoven and oftentimes complicated relationships with each other, the series is a comedic exploration of old friendships, former romantic entanglements and balancing adult life with nostalgia for the past.
Stoll and Delbanco serve as executive producers on the series. Stoller will direct all eight episodes of the first season.
"Nick is a comedic mastermind. With Friends From College, he and Francesca have created a world that is both moving and very, very funny," said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content, Netflix. "We are thrilled to be working with them and this incredible cast, and look forward to audiences around the world laughing with and at these relatable characters."
