TNT has given a series order to comedic drama Claws created by Eliot Laurence. The 10-episode first season will debut on the cable network in 2017.
Set in a South Florida nail salon, Claws is a midnight-dark, wickedly funny meditation on female badness that follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous manicurists in the traditionally male world of organized crime.
The cast includes Niecy Nash, Carrie Preston, Judy Reyes, Jenn Lyon, Karrueche Tran, Jason Antoon, Jack Kesy and Harold Perrineau.
Eliot Laurence wrote the pilot, which was directed by Nicole Kassell. Laurence will serve as co-executive producer. Janine Sherman Barrois is the showrunner for the first season. Rashida Jones and Will McCormack will executive produce. Studio T, Warner Horizon Television and Le Train Train produce.
"Claws is wild and hilarious, and we can't wait for viewers to immerse themselves in this fascinating world," said Sarah Aubrey, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, TNT. "This is a show with great storytelling featuring empowered female characters and brought to life by a diverse group of incredibly talented individuals both in front of and behind the camera."
