Cinemax has handed out an eight-episode straight-to-series order to animated comedy Tales From the Tour Bus created by Mike Judge (Silicon Valley). The series has already started production and will debut later this year.
Tales From the Tour Bus chronicles the tales of some of country music's most eccentric characters.
Judge co-created the series with Richard Mullins and Dub Cornett. Judge and Cornett are executive producers. Mullins is a producer. Bob Engelman will co-executive produce.
The series marks Judge's return to animated comedy. He previously created hits Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill. The order for the new series means Judge will stay in the HBO family. He also co-created Silicon Valley, which is in production for its fourth season on HBO.
