TBS Picks Up 'The Cops' from Louis C.K. & Albert Brooks; Sets Cast for 'The Guest Book'

During its presentation at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, TBS announced a 10-episode series order for animated comedy The Cops created by and starring Louis C.K. and Albert Brooks. The network also announced the cast for the upcoming comedic anthology series The Guest Book.

Previously developed as a pilot for FX, The Cops follows Al (Brooks) and Lou (C.K.), two Los Angeles patrolmen trying their best to protect and serve, sometimes failing at both. Ride with them as they patrol one of the biggest cities in the world, then go home with them and be glad you're not married to either.

C.K. and Brooks created the series. They executive produce with Greg Daniels, Dino Stamatopoulos, Dave Becky and Howard Klein. FX Productions, Studio T and 3 Arts Entertainment. The series will premiere in 2018.

"We have made the bold decision to put Louis C.K., Albert Brooks and Greg Daniels at the forefront of what is going to be a serious push into animated comedy for TBS in 2018," said Brett Weitz, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, TBS. "I only hope these newbies know what they're doing."

The Cops marks the second comedy that was picked up at TBS after failing to get a series order at FX. Last year, TBS gave a straight-to-series order to an untitled comedy starring Tracy Morgan and created by Jordan Peele.

The Guest Book, a new anthology comedy series from Greg Daniels, will debut on TBS in August. The series has also locked in its main, recurring and guest cast today. The series will star Kellie Martin (Army Wives) as Officer Kimberly Leahy of the small mountain town of Mount Trace; Charlie Robinson (Hart of Dixie) as Wilfrid, an easygoing manager of rental cottages; Aloma Wright (Suits) as Wilfrid's wife; Carly Jibson (Hairspray) as Vivian, the strong-willed manager of a bikini bar; and Lou Wilson (Tween Fest) as Frank, Vivian's stepson.

The recurring cast for the first season will include Garret Dillahunt (The Mindy Project), Laura Bell Bundy (Anger Management) and Eddie Steeples (My Name is Earl).

Guest stars in the first season will include Danny Pudi (Community), Jenna Fischer (The Office), Tommy Dewey (Casual), Lauren Lapkus (Crashing) Michaela Watkins (Casual), Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Michael Rapaport (Sully), Kate Micucci (Raising Hope), Jaime Pressly (Mom), Stockard Channing (The Good Wife), Andrew J. West (The Walking Dead), John Ortiz (Togetherness), David Zayas (Gotham), Shannon Woodward (Westworld), Margo Martindale (Sneaky Pete) and Stephnie Weir (The Comedians).
