During its day at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, The CW has handed out early renewals to seven veteran series - Arrow, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Flash, Jane the Virgin, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and Supernatural.
The renewals are for the following seasons: Arrow (Season 6), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (Season 3), The Flash (Season 4), Jane the Virgin (Season 4), Legends of Tomorrow (Season 3), Supergirl (Season 3) and Supernatural (Season 13).
The network has yet to decide the futures of freshman series No Tomorrow and Frequency. CW President Mark Pedowitz said their fates will be determined in May once the Netflix data comes in for their seasons. Per a new deal between Netflix and The CW, every series will be made available on the streaming service eight days after the finale airs.
Also missing from this list are the shows that have yet to debut. That list includes The 100 (Feb. 1), iZombie (April 4), The Originals (Mar. 17) and new drama Riverdale (Jan. 26). Both The Vampire Diaries and Reign are currently in their final seasons.
"Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas," said Pedowitz. "Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long."
