National Geographic Renews 'Genius' for Season 2

During its upfront presentation today, National Geographic has renewed its original scripted drama series Genius for a second season. The renewal comes ahead of the series debut on April 25. The subject for the second season will be revealed in the June 20 season finale.





The first season of the anthology series focuses on Albert Einstein, exploring his achievements along with his volatile, passionate and complex personal relationships.

The cast includes Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson, Johnny Flynn, Vincent Kartheiser, Seth Gabel, Michael McElhatton, Samantha Colley, Richard Topol, Shannon Tarbet, Claire Rushbrook, Robert Lindsay and T.R. Knight.

Based on the book Einstein: His Life and Universe by Walter Isaacson, Noah Pink developed the series and serves as co-executive producer. Ken Biller is the showrunner for the first season. He executive produces with Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo, Gigi Pritzker, Rachel Shane, Sam Sokolow and Jeff Cooney. Anna Culp and Melissa Rucker are co-producers. Fox 21 Television Studios, Imagine Television, OddLot Entertainment and EUE/Sokolow produce.
