ABC Renews 'Modern Family'; Cancels 'Last Man Standing'

After months of negotiations, the stars of ABC's hit comedy Modern Family have signed new contracts - paving the way for the network to renew the Emmy-winning series for two more seasons. ABC has also announced tonight the cancellation of Last Man Standing after six seasons.





Modern Family stars Ed O'Neill, Sofía Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons and Jeremy Maguire.

Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan created the comedy. The renewal is for Seasons 9 and 10, with 22 episodes per season.

In its eighth season, the comedy is averaging a 3.8 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic and 11 million total viewers, in Live+7 numbers.


Last Man Standing starred Tim Allen, Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Christoph Sanders, Héctor Elizondo, Amanda Fuller, Flynn Morrison, Jordan Masterson and Jonathan Adams.

Tim Allen, Becky Clements, Marty Adelstein, Richard Baker, Rick Messina and John Pasquin were executive producers. 20th Century Fox Television produced.

In its sixth season, the comedy averaged a 1.7 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic and 8.3 million total viewers, in Live+7 numbers.
