History Gives Series Order to Drama 'Blue Book' from Robert Zemeckis

History has given a straight-to-series order today to scripted drama Blue Book executive produced by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future). The order is for 10 episodes, which will likely debut in 2018.

The drama follows a college professor recruited by the air force to research paranormal files from the 1950s and '60s. Each episode draws inspiration from actual files for a blend of UFO theories with authentic historical information.

David O'Leary created the drama. He executive produces with Zemeckis, Jack Rapke and Jackie Levine. A+E Studios and Compari Entertainment produce.

"Rarely have I been associated with a project that is a perfect fusion of historical fact and extraordinary entertainment," said Zemeckis. "We are grateful for A+E Studios' and History's support for what I know will be a fabulous series."

"Blue Book is inspired by the true covert events of an era in American history shrouded in mystery," said Paul Buccieri, President, A+E Studios. "Robert Zemeckis and the creative team have shaped an incredibly compelling narrative, building upon History's unique, growing brand of fact-based scripted programming."

Blue Book marks the fourth scripted drama at History - following Vikings, Six and the upcoming Knightfall.
