After months of speculation and anticipation, CBS and CBS All Access have finally announced a premiere date for the new original drama series Star Trek: Discovery.
The new drama will debut on Sunday, September 24 with a special broadcast premiere on CBS at 8:30/7:30c. The first two episodes will be available to stream on CBS All Access that same night. Subsequent new episodes will be released exclusively on All Access each Sunday.
Furthermore, it was confirmed today that the 15-episode first season will be split into two halves. The first eight episodes will run from Sunday, September 24 through Sunday, November 5. The season will then resume with the second half in January 2018.
The drama stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Michelle Yeoh, James Frain, Terry Serpico, Maulik Pancholy, Sam Vartholomeos, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Chris Obi, Shazad Latif, Mary Chieffo and Jason Isaacs.
Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman developed the series, with Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts serving as showrunners for the first season. They all executive produce with Heather Kadin, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth. CBS Television Studios, Secret Hideout, Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment will produce.
