After a very competitive bidding war, Amazon has landed original drama series Homecoming starring Oscar winner Julia Roberts (Erin Brockovich) with a two-season pickup.
Based on Gimlet Media's fictional podcast of the same name, the drama is a psychological and political thriller that centers on a caseworker at a secret government facility (Roberts) and a soldier eager to rejoin civilian life.
Podcast creators Eli Horowtiz and Micah Bloomberg will write the adaptation. Mr. Robot's Sam Esmail is set to direct. All three will executive produce with Roberts, Chad Hamilton, Alicia Van Couvering, Chris Giliberti, Alex Blumberg and Matt Lieber. Universal Cable Productions, Anonymous Content and Gimlet Media produce.
