ABC's original comedy series The Middle will end its run after nine seasons, it was announced today by the show's creators in an exclusive interview with EW. The comedy will air its final episode sometime in 2018.
The comedy stars Patricia Heaton, Neil Flynn, Charlie McDermott, Eden Sher and Atticus Shaffer.
Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline created the comedy and serve as executive producers. Warner Bros. Television and Blackie & Blondie Productions produce.
After eight seasons, the comedy has produced 191 episodes. It is also a hit in syndication with repeats airing on Freeform, Hallmark and local broadcast affiliates.
The final season is set to begin on Tuesday, October 3 at 8/7c.
