Netflix has today announced a premiere date for the upcoming second season of its hit original drama series The Crown.
All 10 episodes of the second season will drop on the streaming service on Friday, December 8.
The new season begins with soldiers in the British Armed Forces fighting an illegal war in Egypt and ends with the downfall of the Queen's third prime minister, Harold Macmillan, after a devastating scandal. The season explores the end of the age of deference and beginning of the 1960s revolutions.
Claire Foy and Matt Smith return as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, respectively. New cast additions this season include Matthew Goode, Michael C. Hall, Jodi Balfour and Anton Lesser.
Peter Morgan created the drama. He executive produces with Stephen Daldry, Andy Harries, Philip Martin, Suzanne Macki, Matthew Byam-Shaw, Robert Fox, Tanya Seghatchian, Nina Wolansky and Allie Goss. Sony Pictures Television and Left Bank Pictures produce.
