After airing two episodes, ABC has picked up a full season of its original drama series The Good Doctor. The first season of the drama will now include 22 episodes.
In its first two episodes, The Good Doctor has averaged a 2.2 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The premiere episode has since grown to a 3.7 rating and almost 17 million viewers with three days of delayed viewing factored in.
"We are thrilled to announce that we are giving our viewers additional episodes of The Good Doctor," said Channing Dungey, President, ABC Entertainment. "We have an amazing team in front of and behind the camera, led by Freddie Highmore's incredibly nuanced performance as Dr. Shaun Murphy, and we're confident the show will continue to captivate our audience."
The drama stars Freddie Highmore, Antonia Thomas, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chuku Modu, Beau Garrett, Tamlyn Tomita, Hill Harper and Richard Schiff.
David Shore created the drama. He executive produces with Daniel Dae Kim, Seth Gordon, Eric Gunn, David Kim and Sebastian Lee. Sony Pictures Television, ABC Studios and Shore Z Productions produce.
