Ahead of tomorrow night's season finale, Audience Network has renewed its original drama series Mr. Mercedes for a second season. The new season will again include 10 episodes. Production will begin early next year.
The second season will be based on Stephen King's best-selling Bill Hodges trilogy, which includes Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers and End of Watch.
The drama stars Brendan Gleeson, Harry Treadaway, Jharrel Jerome, Scott Lawrence, Justine Lupe, Kelly Lynch, Robert Stanton, Breeda Wool, Mary-Louise Parker and Holland Taylor.
David E. Kelley developed the drama based on the novel by Stephen King. He executive produces with King, Jack Bender, Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey and Dennis Lehane. Sonar Entertainment, Temple Hill Entertainment and David E. Kelly Productions produce.
"I'm excited and thrilled," said Kelley. "Stephen King, Dennis Lehane, Jack Bender, Brandan Gleeson - this is a special team indeed."
"Mr. Mercedes is Stephen King writing about the monsters inside his characters rather than outside," added Bender. "We were extremely fortunate to attract an amazing cast, led by Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway, to bring these flawed, complex, colorful characters to life. I am thrilled to keep telling this story."
