Amazon has today announced the premiere date for its new original drama series Britannia starring Kelly Reilly (True Detective, Yellowstone).
The nine-episode first season will debut entirely on the streaming service on Friday, January 26.
Set in 43AD, the series centers on the Roman Imperial Army, determined and terrified in equal measure, as they return to crush the Celtic heart of Britannia, a mysterious land ruled by wild warrior women and powerful Druids who can channel the powerful forces of the underworld.
The cast includes Kelly Reilly, David Morrissey, Zoë Wanamaker, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Stanley Weber and Eleanor Worthington-Cox.
Jez Butterworth, Tom Butterworth and James Richardson created the series. They executive produce with Sam Mendes, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Brown and Anne Thomopoulos. Vertigo Films and Neal Street Productions produce.
