During its presentation at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, Starz announced premiere dates for three new series - Howards End, Sweetbitter and Vida.
New limited series Howards End will launch on Sunday, April 8. New half-hour dramas Vida and Sweetbitter will both premiere on Sunday, May 6.
Howards End explores the changing landscape of social and class divisions in turn of the century England through the prism of three families: the intellectual and idealistic Schlegels, the wealthy Wilcoxes from the world of business, and the working class Basts.
The cast includes Hayley Atwell, Matthew Macfadyen, Tracey Ullman, Philippa Coulthard, Alex Lawther, Julia Ormond and Joseph Quinn.
Kenneth Lonergan wrote the adaptation, which was directed by Hettie Macdonald. They executive produce with Colin Callender, Joshua D. Maurer, Alixandre Witlin, David A. In Sweetbitter, shortly after arriving in New York, 22-year-old Tess lands a job at a celebrated downtown restaurant. She is then swiftly introduced to the world of drugs, alcohol, love, lust, dive bars and fine dining. She has to learn how to navigate the chaotically alluring, yet punishing life she has stumbled upon.
The drama stars Ella Purnell, Caitlin FitzGerald, Tom Sturridge, Paul Sparks, Evan Jonigkeit, Daniyar, Eden Epstein and Jasmine Mathews.
Stephanie Danler created the series, with Stu Zicherman serving as showrunner for the first season. They executive produce with Brad Pitt, Ken Segna, Patrick McDonald, Samantha Offsay and director Richard Shepard. Plan B Entertainment produces.
Vida centers on two Mexican-American sisters from the Eastside of Los Angeles who couldn't be more different or distanced from one another. Circumstances force them to return to their old neighborhood, where they are confronted by the past and shocking truth about their mother's identity.
