Amazon has today announced the premiere date for its new original drama series Jack Ryan based on the best-selling novels from Tom Clancy.
The 8-episode first season will debut on the streaming service on Friday, August 31. The premiere date will be teased in a 60-second commercial that will air just after halftime during Super Bowl LII.
The Office alum John Krasinski stars as a young version of CIA operative Jack Ryan. He follows in the footsteps of Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine who have played the character.
In the new series, Jack Ryan is a burgeoning agency analyst who uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.
The cast also features Abbie Cornish, Wendell Pierce, Ali Suliman, Dina Shihabi and Emmanuelle Lussier Martinez.
Graham Roland developed the series, with Carlton Cuse (Lost, The Strain) serving as showrunner for the first season. They executive produce with Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Lindsey Springer, Mace Neufeld and director Mortem Tyldum. Paramount Television, Skydance Television and Platinum Dunes produce.
