Netflix has today given series orders to the original comedy Mr. Iglesias starring stand-up comedian Gabriel Iglesias and the original drama Another Life starring Katee Sackhoff. The first seasons for both will include 10 episodes.
Mr. Iglesias is a multi-camera sitcom that stars Iglesias as a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater. He takes on teaching gifted but misfit kids to not only save them from being "counseled out" by a bully bureaucrat assistant principal, but also to help them unlock their full potential.
Iglesias and Kevin Hench created the comedy - which is being produced in-house at Netflix.
Another Life revolves around astronaut Niko Breckenridge (Sackhoff), who leads a crew on a mission to explore the genesis of an alien artifact. As she and her young crew investigate, they face unimaginable danger on what might very well be a one-way mission.
Aaron Martin created the drama and will serve as showrunner. He will executive produce with Noreen Halpern. Halfire Entertainment will produce for Netflix.
