HBO has today given a series order to the original limited series I Know This Much Is True starring Mark Ruffalo (the Avengers franchise, The Normal Heart). The six-episode series is based on the book of the same name by Wally Lamb.
The drama follows the parallel lives of identical twin brothers, Dominick and Thomas Birdsey (both Ruffalo) in an epic story of betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness that is set against the backdrop of 20th century America.
Derek Cianfrance (The Place Beyond the Pines, Blue Valentine) is set to write and direct. He will executive produce with Ruffalo, Lamb, Ben Browning, Glen Basner, Gregg Fienberg and Anya Epstein. Lynette Howell Taylor and Jamie Patricof will co-executive produce. FilmNation Entertainment will produce.
