HBO Announces Premiere Date for Season 3 of 'True Detective'

HBO has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming third season of its original anthology series True Detective.







The eight-episode third season will premiere on Sunday, January 13 at 9/8c.

The new season tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.

The cast for the third season includes Mahershala Ali, Stephen Dorff, Carmen Ejogo, Ray Fisher, Mamie Gummer, Scoot McNairy, Josh Hopkins, Jodi Balfour, Deborah Ayorinde, Lonnie Chavis, Rhys Wakefield, Michael Greyeyes, Jon Tenney, Sarah Gadon, Emily Nelson, Brandon Flynn and Michael Graziadei.

Nic Pizzolatto created the anthology series. He wrote every episode of the third season (with the fourth episode being co-written by David Milch). He also makes his directorial debut this year, with Jeremy Saulnier and Daniel Sackheim also directing this season. 

Executive producers include Pizzolatto, Saulnier, Cary Joji Fukunaga, Scott Stephens, Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, Steve Golin, Bard Dorros and Richard Brown. Anonymous Content produces.
