CBS All Access has today given a series order to the original drama series Interrogation. The series pickup today also came with the announcement that the new series will follow a slightly unusual viewing and release strategy for the streaming service.
Based on the real-life conviction of a young man who was charged and convicted with brutally murdering his mother, the drama will let the viewer become the detective. Each episode will be structured on an interrogation taken directly from the real police case files. The first nine episodes will be available to watch in any order, and then the season finale will be released at a later date.
Anders Weidemann (30 Degrees in February) and John Mankiewicz (Bosch) created the drama. They executive produce with Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate. Fabrik Entertainment produce.
"This nonlinear approach to storytelling is closer to how real detectives work, picking their own path through the evidence in search for the truth," said Weidemann.
"Interrogation pushes the boundaries of what a television series can be with its truly unique format," added Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President of Original Content, CBS All Access. "It's also a series that could only be executed with the technical capabilities of a streaming service, and we look forward to bringing its innovative approach to our CBS All Access subscribers."
