Starz has today given a series order to the original drama P-Valley created by playwright Katori Hall. Production on the new series will begin in 2019.
Set down deep in the Mississippi Delta, where lies an oasis of grit and glitter in a rough patch of human existence where beauty can be hard to find. The southern-fried drama tells the kaleidoscopic story of a little-strip-club-that-could and the big characters who come through its doors - the hopeful, the lost, the broken, the ballers, the beautiful and the damned. Trap music meets film noir in this lyrical and atmospheric series that dares to ask what happens when small-town folk dream beyond the boundaries of the Piggly Wiggly and the pawnshop.
The cast includes Brandee Evans, Nicco Annan, Shannon Thornton and J. Alphonse Nicholson.
Hall will serve as showrunner for the first season, with award-winning music video director Karena Evans set to helm the premiere episode. Khaliah Neal will serve as a consulting producer while Patrik-Ian Polk is a co-executive producer. Chernin Entertainment will produce.
