Production has begun today in London on the upcoming original drama series Gangs of London which is being produced for Sky in the U.K. and Cinemax in the U.S. Moreover, Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders) and Sope Dirisu (Humans) have been cast in the lead roles today.
Set in one of the world's most dynamic, multicultural cities - one that is torn by the turbulent power struggles of the international gangs that control it - the drama will chronicle the power vacuum created when the head of a crime organization is assassinated and how his death threatens the fragile peace between the intricate web of gangs.
In addition to Cole and Dirisu, the cast also features Lucian Msamati, Michelle Fairley, Mark Lewis Jones, Narges Rashidi, Jing Lusi, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Brian Vernel, Orli Shuka, Richard Harrington, Jude Akuwudike and Emmett J. Scanlan.
Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery created the drama. They executive produce with Hugh Warren, Thomas Benski, Lucas Ochoa, Jane Featherstone and Gabriel Silver. Pulse Films and Sister Pictures produce.
Evans will direct the majority of the 10-episode season. Corin Hardy will also direct three episodes, while Xavier Gens will direct two episodes.
