NBC has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original comedy series Abby's starring Natalie Morales.
The 10-episode first season will premiere on Thursday, March 28 at 9:30/8:30c. The comedy takes over the slot currently held by Will & Grace, which will move to 9/8c. on March 28 and April 4 for the final two episodes of its tenth season.
Shot outdoors in front of a live studio audience, the comedy centers around an unlicensed, makeshift establishment in Abby's (Morales) backyard, the perfect gathering place for locals to find camaraderie and sanctuary. To maintain the perfect bar ecosystem, all patrons must abide by a specific set of rules. This includes no cell phones (not even to look something up), understanding that earning a seat at the bar takes time to rise through the hierarchy and knowing that losing a challenge may have some unpleasant and unpalatable drink-related repercussions.
The comedy also stars Nelson Franklin, Jessica Chaffin, Kimia Behpoornia, Leonard Ouzts and Neil Flynn.
Josh Malmuth created the comedy. He executive produces with Mike Schur, David Miner and director Pamela Fryman. Universal Television, Fremulon and 3 Arts Entertainment produce.
