Amazon's Homecoming and Netflix's Spinning Out.
AMAZON's HOMECOMING
- Julia Roberts will not be returning to the drama for its upcoming second season as a series regular. However, she will remain onboard as an executive producer with the potential of her returning as a guest star. Despite Amazon giving the series a two season order upfront, Roberts only had a one-year deal as the star of the show. It remains unclear if any of the stars from the first season - which includes Bobby Cannavale, Stephen James, Shea Whigham, Alex Karpovsky and Sissy Spacek - will return for Season 2
- Roberts played Heidi Bergman, a caseworker at the Homecoming facility. Based on the hit podcast of the same name, the television adaptation made significant changes to the ending of the first season, which brought Heidi's story to a clear conclusion. For her performance, Roberts was nominated for a Golden Globe Award - ultimately losing to Killing Eve's Sandra Oh.
NETFLIX's SPINNING OUT
- January Jones has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming drama starring Kaya Scodelario. She previously starred for seven seasons in AMC's Mad Men and four seasons in FOX's The Last Man on Earth. She next appears in Netflix's upcoming hourlong comedy The Politician starring Ben Platt.
- She will play Carol Baker, Kat (Scodelario) and Serena's (Willow Shields) mother. She is a former high-level figure skater who had to forfeit her dreams when she became pregnant with her oldest daughter at a young age. The head of the Baker family, she fiercely pushes both her girls to become Olympians in order to fulfill the dream she could never achieve herself. Simultaneously, she struggles with personal demons that threaten to ruin her relationship with her daughters, the thing she values above all else.
