HBO has today given a series order to the original limited series Mare of Easttown starring Academy and Emmy Award winner Kate Winslet (The Reader, Titanic).
Winslet will star as a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder at a time when her own life is crumbling around her.
Brad Ingelsby is writing every episode of the eight-episode season, with Gavin O'Connor directing all of them as well. They will executive produce with Winslet, Gordon Gray, Paul Lee and Mark Roybal. Wiip and Mayhem Pictures will produce.
The role marks Winslet's return to HBO following her Emmy-winning performance in the 2011 miniseries Mildred Pierce.
