During its presentation at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, Showtime renewed its original dramedy series Shameless for a tenth season - extending its run as the longest-running scripted original on the premium cable channel. The show will return with new episodes in late 2019.
Season 10 will star William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney and Christian Isaiah.
Moreover, Showtime announced today that Cameron Monaghan will also be returning to the cast for the upcoming tenth season. He departed the series halfway through its current ninth season. However, there are still no plans for female lead Emmy Rossum to return after she departs at the conclusion of Season 9.
John Wells developed the dramedy. He executive produces with Nancy M. Pimental. Warner Bros. Television and John Wells Productions produce.
"The Gallaghers are a force of nature, and they are coming back," said Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks. "Shameless, with its ever-growing fan base, is like no other show on television. We are thrilled it will live on with its unique blend of love and larceny on Showtime."
"All of us on Shameless are delighted that we get to tell more wonderful Gallagher stories - and thankful to Showtime for their continued support," added Wells. "We can't wait to get back to work with this extraordinary cast."
