Netflix has today given a series order to the original drama series Pieces of Her based on the novel of the same name by Karin Slaughter. The first season will produce eight episodes.
The drama explores what happens when an adrift young woman's Saturday afternoon trip to the mall with her mother suddenly explodes into violence and forever changes the daughter's conception of her mother. As figures from the mother's past start to resurface, the daughter is forced to go on the run and on that journey, she begins to piece together the truth of her mother's previous identity and uncovers secrets of her childhood.
Charlotte Stoudt developed the drama and will serve as showrunner on the first season. Emmy nominee Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland) will direct the first two episodes. They will executive produce with Bruna Papandrea. Made Up Stories will produce.
