Netflix has today given a series order to the original half-hour dramedy series Gentefied based on the web series of the same name. The first season will produce 10 episodes.
The bilingual Latinx series follows the lives of three Mexican-American cousins chasing the American dream in a rapidly changing Los Angeles even as that dream threatens their neighborhood, their immigrant grandfather and their family taco shop.
Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chavez created the series, with Lemus also directing. They will also serve as co-executive producers. Queen Sugar alum Monica Macer will serve as showrunner for the first season. Macer executive producers with America Ferrera, Charles D. King, Kim Roth, Teri Weinberg and Aaliyah Williams. Macro produces in association with Netflix.
