Apple has today given a series order to the original drama series Pachinko based on the best-selling novel by Min Jin Lee. The first season will produce eight episodes.
The drama chronicles the hopes and dreams of four generations of a Korean immigrant family. Epic in scope and intimate in tone, the story begins with a forbidden love and crescendos into a sweeping saga that journeys between Korea, Japan and America to tell the story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning.
Soo Hugh (The Terror) developed the drama and will serve as showrunner. She will executive produce with Lee and Michael Ellenberg. Dani Gorin will serve as a co-executive producer. Media Res will produce.
