Netflix has today given a series order to the original limited series The Queen's Gambit starring Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, Glass). The order is for six episodes.
Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, the series follows Beth Harmon (Taylor-Joy) from age 8 to 22 as she struggles with addiction and goes on a quest to become the greatest chess player in the world during the Cold War era.
Scott Frank (Godless) will write and direct the series. He will executive produce with William Horberg and co-writer Allan Scott.
