USA has today renewed its original anthology series The Sinner for a third season, with Matt Bomer set to join returning star Bill Pullman in the lead role.
In the new season, Detective Harry Ambrose (Pullman) investigates a car crash and uncovers a crime that pulls him into the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career.
Bomer will star as Jamie, a Dorchester resident and expectant father who looks to Ambrose for support in the wake of an accident.
Derek Simonds will return as showrunner for the third season. He executive produces with Jessica Biel (who starred in the first season), Charlie Gogolak, Michelle Purple and Willie Reale. Adam Bernstein has been tapped to direct the first two episodes of the new season.
Bomer's casting brings him back to USA after starring for six seasons in White Collar. He has also been nominated for an Emmy for the HBO film The Normal Heart. He starred for one season in FX's American Horror Story and in the Amazon limited series The Last Tycoon. He currently stars in DC Universe's Doom Patrol and recurs on NBC's Will & Grace.
