BBC America Renews 'Killing Eve' for Season 3

A day after launching its second season, BBC America has renewed its original drama series Killing Eve for a third season. The drama is expected to return with new episodes in 2020.

Furthermore, Suzanne Heathcote has been tapped to replace Emerald Fennell as showrunner for the third season. The replacement comes as series creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge has decided to hire a new female showrunner for each season of the drama.

Waller-Bridge and Heathcote will executive produce the third season with star Sandra Oh, Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Gina Mingacci, Damon Thomas and Jeff Melvoin.

In its second season, the drama stars Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Owen McDonnell, Nina Sosanya, Edward Bluemel and Fiona Shaw.

"I'm very excited that the Killing Eve baton is being passed onto another incredible writer for season three," said Waller-Bridge. "We can sleep soundly knowing these characters are safe in Suzanne Heathcote's hilariously murderous hands."

"We love having this show and the brilliant Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and Fiona Shaw on our networks," said Sarah Barnett, President of Entertainment Networks, AMC Networks. "Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emerald Fennell have delivered two addictively entertaining seasons. As we did last year, we're renewing Killing Eve right out of the gate, now with Suzanne Heathcote as lead writer, as a sign of confidence - we adore this show as much as our fans do. Killing Eve doesn't do anything in a templated way; we love giving opportunity to three genius women to make their mark."
