ABC has today made its first drama pickup decision from its current crop of pilots. The broadcast network has given a series order to a now untitled drama starring Cobie Smulders based on the Stumptown graphic novels.
Dex Parios (Smulders) is a strong, assertive and sharp-witted army veteran with a complicated love life, gambling debt and a brother to take care of Portland, Oregon. Her military intelligence skills make her a great private investigator, but her unapologetic style puts her in the firing line of hardcore criminals and not quite in alliance with the police.
The drama also stars Michael Ealy, Mark Webber, Adrian Martinez, Cole Sibus, Tantoo Cardinal and Camryn Manheim.
Jason Richman wrote the pilot, which was directed by James Griffiths. They executive produce with Ruben Fleischer, Dave Bernad, Greg Rucka, Matthew Southworth and Justin Greenwood. ABC Studios and The District produce.
