Casting News - May 7, 2019

HBO's Perry Mason and Spectrum's Manhunt: Lone Wolf.

HBO's PERRY MASON
  • John Lithgow has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming limited series starring Matthew Rhys and Tatiana Maslany. He is a six-time Emmy winner for his work on NBC's Amazing Stories, NBC's 3rd Rock from the Sun, Showtime's Dexter and Netflix's The Crown. He is also a two-time Tony winner for The Changing Room and Sweet Smell of Success.
  • He will play Elias Birchard "E.B." Jonathan, an attorney and semi-regular employer of private investigator Perry Mason (Rhys) who's at the nadir of his legal career. He's a mentor and father figure to Perry and gets handed the kind of case he hasn't seen in years: a parallel investigation to the LAPD involving a child kidnapping.
SPECTRUM's MANHUNT: LONE WOLF
  • Jack Huston and Cameron Britton will play the lead roles on the anthology series' upcoming second season. Huston recently starred in the second season of Audience's Mr. Mercedes and appeared in an episode of Amazon's The Romanoffs. Britton received an Emmy nomination for his guest performance in Netflix's Mindhunter. He recently starred in the first season of Netflix's The Umbrella Academy.
  • The new season - which moves to the subscription service after airing its first season on Discovery - will chronicle one of the largest and most complex manhunts on U.S. soil - the search for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Bomber - and the media firestorm that consumed the life of Richard Jewell in its wake.
  • Huston will play Eric Rudolph, the criminal mastermind who set off a series of huge bombs before disappearing into the wilderness, where for years he successfully evaded the largest manhunt in American history. He is an intensely charming manipulator. He plays with people like puppets, becoming whoever he needs to be to advance his nihilistic agenda.
  • Britton will play Richard Jewll, the minimum-wage security guard who discovered an enormous bomb at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He put his life on the line to save hundreds of people. He became an international hero - until he was falsely accused of planting the bomb himself. He takes on both the media and the FBI, fighting to clear his name and hold the most powerful voices in the country accountable to the truth.
