During WarnerMedia's combined upfront presentations today, TBS also a major move into original drama programming. The long-gestating drama Snowpiercer will be moving from its current home on TNT to TBS. The first season will debut in the spring of 2020. Moreover, a second season has just been ordered.
Based on the acclaimed 2013 film of the same name, the drama is set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland. It centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe.
The drama stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand, Rowan Blanchard and Jaylin Fletcher.
Graeme Manson serves as showrunner on drama after replacing original series creator Josh Friedman. Manson executive produces with Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Matthew O'Connor, Bong Joon Ho, Miky Lee, Tae-sung Jeong, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun, Dooho Choi and director James Hawes. Studio T, Tomorrow Studios and CJ Entertainment produce.
