Kenya Barris has officially landed his first series at Netflix. After signing an overall deal with the streaming service, Netflix has given a series order to the original comedy series Black Excellence which will also feature Barris in the starring role opposite Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation, Angie Tribeca).
The comedy is inspired by Barris' irreverent, highly flawed and unbelievably honest approach to parenting, relationships, race and culture. It looks to pull back the curtain and reboot the family sitcom in a way viewers have never seen before.
Barris and Jones will executive produce with Hale Rothstein. Khalabo Ink Society will produce in association with Netflix.
