During WarnerMedia's combined upfront presentation today, TBS gave a series order to the original comedy series Chad created by and starring Nasim Pedrad (Saturday Night Live, People of Earth).
14-year-old Chad (Pedrad) navigates his first year of high school on a mission to become popular. His friendships and sanity are pushed to the limits as he uses every tactic at his disposal to befriend the cool kids, while enduring his mother's new dating life and reconciling with his cultural identity.
The comedy also stars Saba Homayoon, Ella Mika, Paul Chahidi, Jake Ryan and Alexa Loo.
Pedrad executive produces with Hayes Davenport, Oly Obst, Rob Rosell and director Rhys Thomas. Studio T and 3 Arts Entertainment will produce.
"I'm so grateful to TBS for believing in Chad and giving an adult woman the opportunity to live her dream of playing a jarringly awkward teenage boy, while also running the show behind the camera," said Pedrad.
"Thom Hinkle and I pursued this show for three years and it was well worth the wait," said Brett Weitz, General Manager, TBS and TNT. "Chad is creative, diverse and inclusive storytelling that epitomizes the TBS brand. Nasim Pedrad is a comedic mastermind and profound storyteller."
