Hulu has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original drama series Wu-Tang: An American Saga starring Ashton Sanders and Shameik Moore.
The first three episodes of the drama will be released on Wednesday, September 4, with the remaining seven episodes of the first season streaming weekly.
Set in early '90s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the drama tracks the formation of the Wu-Tang Clan, a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA (Sanders), who strives to unite a dozen young black men who are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.
In addition to Sanders and Moore, the drama stars Dave East, Siddiq Saunderson, Marcus Callender, Julian Elijah Martinez, Zolee Griggs, Erika Alexander, TJ Atoms and Johnell Young.
The RZA and Alex Tse created the drama. They executive produce with Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo, Method Man, and directors Craig Zisk and Chris Robinson. Fellow Wu-Tang Clan members Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa and GZA as well as the Estate of Ol' Dirty Bastard serve as consulting producers. Imagine Television produces.
