Ewan McGregor is in talks to return as Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new series set for Disney+. The company and actor have not yet confirmed the potential series.
McGregor previously played the character in the three Star Wars prequel films - The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. In recent years, LucasFilm was in active development of a standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi film. Plans for that project fell through after the unsuccessful debut of Solo: A Star Wars Story.
This is the third series set in the Star Wars universe to be earmarked for the Disney streaming service, which debuts in November 2019. It joins The Mandalorian created by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal as well as an untitled prequel to Rogue One featuring Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk reprising their roles.
The new show will mark McGregor's second major TV role in recent years. He starred in the third season of FX's anthology drama Fargo, earning an Emmy nomination and a Golden Globe victory. Later this year, he stars in Doctor Sleep, a sequel film to The Shining. Next year he will be seen as the DC villain Black Mask in the film Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
