HBO has today given a series order to the original comedy series Betty created by Crystal Moselle and Lesley Arfin inspired by Moselle's 2018 feature film Skate Kitchen. Production is currently underway in New York City on a six-episode season.
Set against the backdrop of New York City, a diverse group of young women navigate their lives through the predominantly male oriented world of skateboarding.
Rachelle Vinberg, Nina Moran, Moonbear, Dede Lovelace and Ajani Russell will star.
Moselle and Arfin will executive produce with Igor Srubshchik and Jason Weinberg. Michael Sherman, Matthew Perniciaro and Rodrigo Teixeira will co-executive produce while Izabella Tzenkova and Lizzie Nastro will produce. Arfin Material, Untitled Entertainment, Bow & Arrow Entertainment and RT Features will produce.
Arfin and Moselle are writing the series with Moselle also directing.
