Casting News - Winston Duke to Star in Apple's 'Swagger'; Peter Serafinowicz Joins TBS' 'Miracle Workers'; Plus 7 More Updates!

Apple's Swagger; CBS All Access' The Stand; FOX's Deputy; NBC's Manifest; Netflix's Madam C.J. Walker; Paramount's 68 Whiskey; Showtime's Shameless; Starz's The Girlfriend Experience; and TBS' Miracle Workers.




APPLE's SWAGGER
  • Winston Duke will play the lead role on the upcoming drama created by Reggie Rock Bythewood. He had starring roles in the feature films Black Panther and Us. He previously had a recurring role on CBS' Person of Interest.
  • He will play Ike, a youth basketball coach and former star player.
NBC's MANIFEST
  • Leah Gibson and Carl Lundstedt have been cast in recurring roles on the drama's upcoming second season. Gibson starred in the second season of Netflix's Jessica Jones. Lundstedt starred in the first season of Freeform's Cloak & Dagger.
  • Gibson will play Tamara, the alluring and street smart bartender of an X'er hangout.
  • Lundstedt will play Billy, Tamara's protective and hot-headed brother.
SHOWTIME's SHAMELESS
  • Mary Kay Place and Elizabeth Rodriguez have booked recurring roles on the dramedy's upcoming tenth season. Place won an Emmy Award in 1977 for the syndicated soap Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Rodriguez appeared in all seven seasons of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black.
  • Place will play Aunt Oopie, Tami's (Kate Miner) irritatingly sweet aunt. She is a life-saving babysitter but has some complicated world views.
  • Rodriguez will play Faye, a femme fatale who takes to Frank (William H. Macy) for reasons at first not understood.
NETFLIX's MADAM C.J. WALKER
  • Cornelius Smith Jr., Keeya King and J. Alphonse Nicholson have landed recurring roles on the upcoming limited series starring Octavia Spencer. Smith Jr. starred for three seasons in ABC's Scandal. King currently stars in the fourth season of Syfy's Van Helsing. Nicholson stars in Starz's upcoming drama P-Valley.
  • Smith Jr. will play W.E.B. Dubois, America's foremost black intellectual and civil rights activist who is publisher of The Crisis and a co-founder of the NAACP, who befriends Walker (Spencer).
  • King will play Peaches, a tomboyish jazz singer who befriends Walker's daughter, Lelia (Tiffany Haddish).
  • Nicholson will play John Robinson, Lelia's musician husband who can't seem to get on Madam Walker's good side, no matter how hard he tries.
TBS' MIRACLE WORKERS
  • Tony Cavalero, Jessica Lowe, Peter Serafinowicz and Jamie Demetriou have joined the cast of the comedic anthology series' upcoming second season. They join returning series regulars Daniel Radcliffe, Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Karan Soni, Jon Bass and Lolly Adefope, who will all be playing new roles in the second season.
  • Cavalero (The Righteous Gemstones) will play Ted Carpenter, a happy medieval bro, who loves tavern trivia night and public executions.
  • Lowe (Wrecked) will play Mary Baker, a confident and condescending young woman who is excited to settle down in her small town and marry her brother.
  • Serafinowicz (The Tick) will play King Cragnoor the Heartless, a powerful and murderous tyrant, who tends to prioritize killing over parenting.
  • Demetriou (Fleabag) will play the Town Crier, who hosts a daily news show in the village square.
  • Moreover, Fred Armisen, Anna Drezen, Miles Robbins, Kerri Kenney, Jon Daly and Zeke Nicholson will guest star in the new season.
FOX's DEPUTY
  • Natalia Cigliuti is set for a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Stephen Dorff. She appeared for three years on ABC's All My Children. She has recently recurred on NBC's This Is Us.
  • She will play Teresa, Deputy Cade Walker's (Brian Van Holt) wife. She's a prestigious law school graduate who turned her back on offers from top law firms to become a public defender in the Los Angeles Superior Court, and represents the long forgotten people in the city.
PARAMOUNT's 68 WHISKEY
  • Linc Hand has snagged a recurring role on the upcoming dramedy starring Sam Keeley and Gage Golightly. He has previously recurred on ABC's Revenge and FOX's Ghosted.
  • He will play Crash, a pilot with a unique nickname.
CBS ALL ACCESS' THE STAND
  • The upcoming limited series starring James Marsden, Amber Heard, Whoopi Goldberg and Alexander Skarsgård has added Nat Wolff to its cast. He has previously starred in the films Paper Towns, The Intern and Stella's Last Weekend
  • He will play Lloyd, Henreid, a petty criminal who becomes fiercely loyal to Randall Flagg, aka the Dark Man (Skarsgård).
STARZ's THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE
  • Julia Goldani Telles will play the lead role on the upcoming third installment of the anthology series. She currently stars in Showtime's The Affair, which is airing its fifth and final season. She previously starred in ABC Family's one-season drama Bunheads.
  • She will play Iris, a young neuroscientist who begins to explore the transactional world of The Girlfriend Experience, only to find herself deep inside the Uncanny Valley with the relationships she creates. Set in the London tech scene, she quickly learns that her client sessions provide her with an edge in the tech world, and vice versa... until she begins to question whether her actions are driven by free will, or something else altogether.
