USA has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original drama series Dare Me based on the novel by Megan Abbott.
The drama will begin its first season on Sunday, December 29 at 10/9c.
Peering behind the all-American facade, the series dives into the cutthroat world of competitive high school cheerleading. It follows the fraught relationship between two best friends after a new coach arrives to bring their team to prominence. While the girls' friendship is put to the test, their young lives are changed forever when a shocking crime rocks their quiet rust belt town. Part coming-of-age story, part sport drama, part murder mystery, the drama explores the physical and psychological extremes that some young women are willing to endure in order to get ahead.
The drama stars Willa Fitzgerald, Herizen Guardiola, Marlo Kelly, Paul Fitzgerald, Zach Roerig, Rob Heaps and Alison Thornton.
Recurring guest stars include Chris Zylka, Taveeta Szymanowicz, Tammy Blanchard, Antonio J. Bell and Amanda Brugel.
Abbott developed the series, with Steph Green directing the premiere. They executive produce with Gina Fattore, Peter Berg, Michael Lombardo, Sarah Condon and Karen Rosenfelt. Universal Content Productions and Film 44 produce.
