Netflix has today given a series order to the original drama series Brand New Cherry Flavor based on the novel by Todd Grimson. The first season will produce eight episodes.
The drama follows Lisa Nova, an aspiring film director in the sun-drenched but seamy world of 1990 Angeles, who embarks on a mind-altering journey - from the streets of Beverly Hills to the forests of Brazil - of supernatural revenge.
The drama will star Rosa Salazar (Undone), Catherine Keener (Kidding), Eric Lange (Escape at Dannemora), Jeff Ward (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Manny Jacinto (The Good Place).
Channel Zero's Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion developed the drama, with Arkasha Stevenson directing the premiere. Universal Content Productions and Eat the Cat Productions will produce in association with Netflix.
