Netflix has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original drama series Messiah starring Michelle Monaghan and Mehdi Dehbi.
All 10 episodes of the first season will be available on Wednesday, January 1.
When CIA officer Eva Geller uncovers information about a man gaining international attention through acts of public disruption, she begins an investigation into his origins. As he continues to cultivate followers who allege he's performing miracles, the global media become increasingly beguiled by this charismatic figure. Geller must race to unravel the mystery of whether he really is a divine entity or a deceptive con artist capable of dismantling the world's geopolitical order. As the story unfolds, multiple perspectives are interwoven including that of an Israeli intelligence officer, a Texas preacher and his daughter, a Palestinian refugee and the journalist who covers the story.
In addition to Monaghan and Dehbi, the drama stars John Ortiz, Tomer Sisley, Stefania LaVie Owen, Sayyid El Alami, Jane Adams, Melinda Page Hamilton, Wil Traval, Fares Landoulsi, Dermot Mulroney and Beau Bridges.
Michael Petroni created the drama, with James McTeigue and Kate Woods directing the first season. They executive produce with Mark Burnett, Roma Downey and Andrew Deane. Industry Entertainment produces in association with Netflix.
