The CW is bypassing the traditioning pilot process and handing straight-to-series orders to a pair of its buzziest projects this development season - the latest Arrow-verse spinoff Superman & Lois starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch and a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger toplined by Supernatural star Jared Padalecki.
Superman & Lois follows Superman/Clark Kent (Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Tulloch) as they deal with stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society.
Former The Flash showrunner Todd Helbing created the drama. He will executive produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns. Wanrer Bros. Television, DC Entertainment and Berlanti Productions will produce.
Walker centers on Cordell Walker (Padalecki), a widower and father of two with his own moral code, who returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there's harder work to be done at home. He'll attempt to reconnect with his children, navigate clashes with his family, and find unexpected common ground with his new partner (one of the first women in Texas Rangers' history), while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife's death.
Anna Fricke (Being Human, Valor) created the drama. She will executive produce with Padalecki, Dan Lin and Lindsay Liberatore. CBS Television Studios will produce.
