Disney+ Orders 10 Episodes of Comedy 'The Mighty Ducks' Starring Lauren Graham

Disney+ has today given a series order to the original comedy series The Mighty Ducks based on the '90s film franchise of the same name. Production on the 10-episode will begin shortly in Vancouver for a premiere later this year.

Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls, Parenthood) and Brady Noon (Good Boys, Boardwalk Empire) are set to star in the series.

Set in present-day Minnesota, the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan (Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom, Alex (Graham), set out to build their own ragtag team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of competitive youth sports.

Steve Brill - who wrote the film franchise - co-created the series with showrunners Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa. They will executive produce with George Heller, Brad Petrigala, Jordan Kerner and directors James Griffiths and Michael Spiller. Graham will serve as a co-executive producer. ABC Signature Studios and Brillstein Entertainment Partners will produce.

Graham currently stars in NBC's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. Her casting here will not impact her ability to return to a second season of the musical dramedy should it be renewed.
