BET has renewed its Tyler Perry original drama series Sistas and The Oval, it was announced today. Moreover, the producer has outlined his plans for re-starting production on the two shows this summer.
Sistas stars KJ Smith, Mignon Von, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, DeVale Ellis, Chido Nwokocha, Anthony Dalton, Brian Jordan Jr. and Kevin A. Walton.
The Oval stars Ed Quinn, Kron Moore, Paige Hurd, Daniel Croix Henderson, Javon Johnson, Ptosha Storey, Vaughn Hebron, Teesha Renee, Lodric Collins, Ciera Payton, Taja V. Simpson, Walter Fauntleroy, Brad Benedict, Travis Cure and Matthew Law.
Tyler Perry writes, directs and executive produces every episode of the two dramas.
The second seasons of both dramas will feature 22 episodes, which will be shot entirely across a two-and-a-half week timeline. Sistas will resume production on July 8, while The Oval will pick up on July 28. In order for production to commence at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, the entire cast and crew will be sequestered at the studio for the duration and tested regularly for COVID-19.
