TNT has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming second season of the original drama series The Alienist: Angel of Darkness.
The new season will premiere on Sunday, July 26 at 9/8c.
In Angel of Darkness, Sara Howard has opened her own private detective agency and is leading the charge on a brand-new case. She reunites with Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, the formidable alienist, and John Moore, now a New York Times reporter, to find Ana Linares, the kidnapped infant daughter of the Spanish Consular. Their investigation leads them down a sinister path of murder and deceit, heading towards a dangerous and elusive killer. As in the first season, the series shines a light on the provocative issues of the era - the corruption of institutions, income inequality, yellow press sensationalism and the role of women in society - themes that still resonate today.
Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans, Dakota Fanning, Douglas Smith, Matthew Shear, Robert Ray Wisdom and Ted Levine reprise their roles from the first season.
Joining the cast in Angel of Darkness are Melanie Field, Rosy McEwen, Matt Letscher, Brittany Batchelder and Lara Pulver.
Stuart Carolan serves as showrunner for the upcoming season. He executive produces with Cary Joji Fukunaga, Eric Roth, Ben Rosenblatt, Pavlina Hatoupis, Rosalie Swedlin, Alyson Feltes and director David Caffrey. Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content produce.
