BET+ Orders 10 Episodes of Comedy 'Ms. Pat' Based on the Comedian's Life

BET+ has today given a series order to the original comedy series Ms. Pat starring and executive produced by Patricia "Ms. Pat" Williams. The project previously produced a pilot at Hulu last fall.

Based on Ms. Pat's stand-up comedy and memoir, the multi-camera sitcom follows a former convicted felon turned suburban mom whose hustle and resilient spirit was forged on the streets of Atlanta. To much reserve, she now finds herself in conservative middle America alongside her well-intentioned husband, a struggle of a sister and two distinct sets of kids raised under very different circumstances.

The cast also features J. Bernard Calloway, Tami Roman, Theodore Barnes, Briyana Guadalupe and Vince Swann.

Jordan E. Cooper wrote the pilot, which was directed by Debbie Allen. They will executive produce with Ms. Pat, Lee Daniels, Marc Velez, Pam Williams, Brian Grazer, Francie Calfoe and Samie Kim Falvey. Fox 21 Television Studios, Imagine Television and Lee Daniels Entertainment will produce.
